Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions about inspection, obligations and compliance.

When is a lifting-equipment inspection mandatory?
Lifting equipment must be inspected periodically under the relevant occupational-safety regulations and standards. The frequency depends on the equipment type and the intensity of use — we determine the exact cycle per device. Request a quote and we'll tell you what applies to your equipment.
Who may perform PPE inspection?
From January 1, 2026, the periodic inspection of personal fall-protection equipment may only be performed by the manufacturer or by a body designated for the inspection, testing or certification of that PPE type. As a designated body, GÉPTESZT Kft. is authorized to perform these inspections throughout Hungary.
How often must fall protection be inspected?
Under EN 365, periodic inspection is mandatory, may only be carried out by a competent person, and the inspection cycle must not exceed 12 months — or 6 months under intensive or high-risk use.
What does notified body (NB 2233) mean?
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/425, it is a designated and supervised body authorized to test and certify personal protective equipment. GÉPTESZT's notified-body number is NB 2233.
What do I receive after the inspection?
An audit-proof inspection report and a result recorded in our digital registry. We affix a label to the equipment indicating the next inspection due date, and the system supports scheduling the next due inspection.
Is the inspection done on site or in the lab?
Both are possible: by drop-off at our laboratory with a short turnaround, and — for sufficient quantities — by on-site visit upon arrangement.
What is the inspection turnaround time?
Typically 3 working days, depending on the number and type of equipment. Following advance booking, we can complete the necessary inspections within 24 hours.
Which fall-protection PPE do you examine?
Full-body harnesses, connectors, fall arresters, lanyards, energy absorbers and further equipment per harmonized EN standards. The full list is on the Fall-protection PPE page.
At what intervals must a lifting machine be inspected? (MSZ 9721)

For lifting machines under the MSZ 9721 standard series, the periodic inspection frequency is determined by the inspection group number per MSZ 9750. The intervals below are taken from MSZ 9721-1:2020.

Inspection group number (MSZ 9750) Structural-inspection interval Major-inspection interval
Op. hours* Months Op. hours* Months
1 1600 8 4800 24
2 1400 7 4200 21
3 1200 6 3600 18
4 800 4 2400 12
5 600 3 1800 9

* Where operating hours cannot be tracked precisely, the calendar intervals in the table govern. Of the two intervals (operating hours, months), the one the machine reaches first during operation is decisive.

Note: stage-technology lifting equipment and vehicle lifts follow a different inspection cycle.
